Finance super app GCash is signaling strong optimism regarding the future growth trajectory of its stock-trading feature, GStocks PH, pointing to surging enthusiasm among ordinary Filipino consumers venturing into retail investing.
Darvin Sy Su, General Manager for Wealth Management at GCash, told reporters that the platform is witnessing widespread curiosity from users who are exploring the stock market for the first time.
“There are a lot of tryers,” Su said, characterizing the influx of users taking their first steps toward investing and saving. He noted that the primary focus moving forward is converting that initial curiosity into long-term, consistent investing habits.
Unlike traditional brokerages catering primarily to high-net-worth clients, GStocks PH was engineered to serve the mass retail market. Operated in partnership with AB Capital Securities Inc., the feature allows GCash users to open an account directly within the app and trade Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE)-listed shares. Account creation carries no minimum initial investment or top-up requirement, though users must deposit funds prior to purchasing equities.
GStocks PH currently serves more than 2 million users through AB Capital Securities Inc., effectively accounting for the majority of all online retail stock trading accounts registered with the local bourse.
This momentum aligns with broader industry data from the PSE’s 2025 Stock Market Investor Profile report. The report revealed that total stock market accounts expanded by 27.3 percent to reach 3.64 million last year, up from 2.86 million accounts recorded in 2024. Retail investors accounted for 99.2 percent (3.61 million) of total accounts, with 3.22 million held online via e-wallets and digital trading platforms, marking a 30.5 percent year-on-year increase in online retail accounts.
GStocks PH operates as a core component of GCash’s broader GInvest umbrella, alongside products like GFunds and GBonds.
Su highlighted that millions of users have participated across the super app’s various financial products, signaling a shift toward digital wealth management. For instance, GCrypto has registered approximately 5 million users since its launch.Meanwhile, GBonds, rolled out in partnership with the Bureau of the Treasury in 2025, has grown to around 750,000 registered users.
To support this adoption, GCash is scaling up its educational resources, embedding real-time market data and beginner guides into GStocks PH, along with launching “Pera Coach,” an AI-driven tool designed to assist users with financial literacy.
“Beyond making access to investing more convenient, we’re doubling down on our financial literacy efforts to help Filipinos better understand and use the tools we provide,” Mynt Group Head of New Businesses Winsley Bangit said.
