Local pump prices are set to surge this week following sharp upward adjustments announced by the Department of Energy (DOE), effective August 18 to 24, 2026.
Motorists using all grades of gasoline, RON 97, RON 95, and RON 91, will see a price hike of P2.49 per liter. Diesel and Diesel Plus consumers face an even steeper increase of P3.84 per liter, while kerosene price spikes the highest with an increase of P5.01 per liter.
According to the DOE, the latest fuel hike reflects recent volatility in the global oil market, driven largely by ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East that continue to disrupt international supply lines.
The energy department assured the public that it is actively monitoring global market fluctuations and implementing measures to stabilize domestic inventory and protect consumers from further price shocks.
