Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete led the donning-of-ranks ceremony for four newly promoted general officers at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio on July 13, 2026.
Brig. Gen. Eric D. Guevarra, assistant division commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, delivered a message on behalf of the newly promoted officers as the most senior among them.
Also promoted were Brig. Gen. Darrel R. Bañez, commander of the 503rd Infantry Brigade under the 5th Infantry Division; Brig. Gen. Jessie R. Montoya, commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade under the 1st Infantry Division; and Brig. Gen. Vincent Arnold O. Dy, deputy commander of the Philippine Army Support Command.
The Army said the promotions marked another milestone in the officers’ military careers and recognized their exemplary service, leadership, competence and unwavering commitment to serving the country and its people.
It added that the promotions reflected the Army’s continuing commitment to developing capable and adaptive leaders who can advance its modernization programs and sustain its transformation into a more agile, mission-ready and future-oriented force.
In his keynote message, Nafarrete congratulated the newly promoted generals and stressed that their new ranks represented not only recognition of their accomplishments but also greater responsibility.
He urged them to help lead the Army toward operational excellence, organizational transformation, and mission success.
