Philippine First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos has joined a global coalition of first spouses led by United States First Lady Melania Trump aimed at fostering safe digital environments, expanding educational tools, and protecting youth online.
Araneta-Marcos participated in the “Fostering the Future Together” luncheon hosted by Trump at the St. Regis Hotel in New York on September 22, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
“Happy to join First Lady Melania Trump and fellow First Spouses for the ‘Fostering the Future Together’ luncheon. No matter where we come from, we all share the same hope for our children — that they are given every opportunity to learn, grow and thrive while staying safe and protected in an increasingly digital world. Thank you, FLOTUS, for bringing us together for a cause so close to every parent’s heart.” Araneta-Marcos said in a social media post following the event.
She expressed optimism that the global effort will help build a “safer, brighter and more hopeful future for all children — especially our young Filipino youth who have fallen victims to all these creepy websites”.
First launched by Trump during the 80th UN General Assembly in 2025, the “Fostering the Future Together” initiative brings together first spouses and international leaders to support youth development through innovation, education, and technology.
The coalition currently spans 57 member nations, focusing on key areas including digital literacy, online child protection, educational technology tools, and artificial intelligence in learning. It also aims to bridge public-private partnerships between governments and major technology firms to broaden access to educational resources for families and teachers.
Attending the luncheon were first ladies representing numerous countries, including the United Kingdom, South Korea, Ukraine, Poland, Türkiye, Panama, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
During the event, Trump announced new partnerships between the coalition and major technology companies including Google, Amazon, Adobe, Intel, Starlink, and Zoom. She also outlined upcoming regional events slated for later this year alongside major international summits, including the US-hosted G20, the European Regional Meeting in Poland, the Caribbean Regional Meeting in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines.
“When nations speak with one voice, the world listens. Our collective influence is profound. Together, we can open doors, move markets, shape policy. And most importantly, we can change lives for the better,” Trump stated during her address.
“Our Fostering the Future Together coalition must strive to empower the youth of our nations to: bend the boundaries of imagination, explore new frontiers of intellect, have the courage to take calculated risks, and build toward advancement of society,” she added.
