The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWS) has distributed more than ₱1.16 million worth of food and non-food assistance to 1,586 families, or 4,056 individuals, affected by Tropical Depression Luis in the Bicol Region and Zamboanga Peninsula as of Monday.
Data from the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring, Information and Communication Division showed that 1,212 families, or 3,682 individuals, are temporarily takinfg shelter at the Curuan Evacuation Center in Zamboanga City.
DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency continues to monitor the weather situation and remains on standby to provide immediate assistance to families that may be affected by the weather disturbance.
Dumlao added that the department is also maintaining close coordination with local government units along the projected parth of the tropical depression to ensure the timely delivery of relief assistance and other necessary interventions.
