The Department of Energy (DOE) does not anticipate yellow or red alerts affecting the power grids in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao for the current week and the next two weeks.
However, DOE Undersecretary Mario Marasigan warned that power reserves in Luzon could tighten if power plants that are presently offline fail to resume operations according to their planned schedules.
To bolster energy reliability in the Visayas, the DOE is supporting the addition of 253 megawatts of power capacity derived from battery energy storage systems, which are slated for completion before the close of 2026.
The agency is also facilitating the integration of 293 megawatts of diesel-fired power capacity in the Visayas region, targeted for completion within the first quarter of 2027.
In Mindanao, electricity supply continues to be stable, with total generation capacity currently surpassing regional power demand.
The DOE is working to resolve transmission bottlenecks while expediting energy infrastructure projects to maintain a stable and dependable power supply nationwide.
