The Department of Energy (DOE) underscored the importance of electrical safety in achieving a secure and sustainable energy future during the 8th National Electrical Safety Summit organized by the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE).

Representing the DOE, Undersecretary Mario Marasigan joined government officials, industry leaders, members of the academe, and engineering professionals in discussing the critical role of electrical safety amid the country’s rapidly evolving energy sector.

The summit carried the theme, “Safe Energy, Secure Nation: Advancing Electrical Safety Amid the Energy Transition and Global Emergency,” highlighting the need to ensure that safety, reliability, and resilience remain at the forefront of the Philippines’ energy transition.

According to the DOE, the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy systems must be accompanied by strong safety standards and resilient infrastructure to guarantee a secure energy future for the country.

The agency also emphasized the significant contribution of electrical engineers and technical professionals in advancing safe, reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy systems, noting that their expertise is essential in supporting the country’s long-term energy goals.

The gathering served as a platform for collaboration among key stakeholders and reaffirmed the importance of integrating electrical safety into the nation’s ongoing energy transformation efforts.
