DMW Rescues 57 OFW Applicants, Shuts Five Suspected Illegal Facilities

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) rescued 57 aspiring overseas Filipino workers and closed five suspected unregistered accommodation facilities during simultaneous operations in Parañaque City on July 25.

In a statement, the DMW said the operations were carried out by its National Capital Region Office in coordination with the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Parañaque City Police District.

The raids followed intensified surveillance against suspected illegal recruitment activities in the area.

The rescued OFW applicants underwent initial assessment and documentation by DMW-NCR personnel before OWWA transferred them to a temporary shelter, where they will receive assistance and other support services.

“The protection of the rights and the promotion of the welfare of OFWs are our paramount concerns,” said DMW-NCR Director Atty. Falconi Millar.

Millar said the regional office remains committed to safeguarding aspiring overseas workers by enforcing labor migration regulations and promoting safe, orderly, and ethical overseas employment.

The DMW also urged the public to report suspected illegal recruitment and human trafficking activities through the agency’s NCR hotline, email, or official social media channels.
