No Filipino nationals were injured or directly affected by the recent blasts in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following military strikes over the weekend, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed on Monday.
The incident occurred late Friday night and early Saturday morning (Sept. 18 and 19) when Houthi rebels launched a series of drone and ballistic missile strikes aimed at the Saudi capital and various energy facilities along the Red Sea coastline.
In an official press release, the DMW assured the public that it is actively tracking the safety of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) across Saudi Arabia through its local Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs), working in tandem with diplomatic posts.
“The Embassy and Consulate are ready to assist overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who may need help,” the DMW stated.
The agency urged the Filipino community residing in the region to maintain high awareness and adhere to security guidelines issued by local Saudi officials.
“OFWs who need assistance should immediately coordinate with the Migrant Workers Offices of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates,” the DMW added.
