DepEd Starts Release of Mid-Year Bonus for Over 1 Million Teachers, Staff

More than one million qualified personnel of the Department of Education will begin receiving their mid-year bonus starting May 15 following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to prioritize the welfare of teachers and education workers.

The payout covers around 900,000 public school teachers and more than 100,000 non-teaching personnel nationwide.

The release of the bonus comes ahead of the opening of School Year 2026–2027 to help provide financial support to education workers preparing for the new academic year.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the timely release of the benefit recognizes the contribution of teachers and school personnel to national development and ongoing learning recovery efforts.

“Batay sa direktiba ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, kinikilala natin ang sakripisyo at dedikasyon ng ating mga guro at kawani,” Angara said.

(Under President Bongbong Marcos’ directive, we recognize the sacrifice and dedication of our teachers and personnel.)

“Ang maagang pagpapalabas ng Mid-Year Bonus ay bahagi ng ating pangako na unahin ang kapakanan ng mga direktang humuhubog sa kinabukasan ng ating mga mag-aaral,” he added.

(The early release of the Mid-Year Bonus is part of our commitment to prioritize the welfare of those directly shaping the future of our students.)

Angara said both teaching and non-teaching personnel remain crucial to the administration’s reforms in literacy, numeracy, and digital learning.

“Kapag masigla at suportado ang ating mga guro at kawani, mas nagiging handa rin ang ating mga paaralan para sa pagkatuto ng bawat batang Pilipino,” he said.

(When our teachers and personnel are motivated and supported, our schools become more prepared for the learning of every Filipino child.)

The mid-year bonus is equivalent to one month’s basic salary, as provided under Department of Budget and Management Budget Circular No. 2017-2.

The benefit is available to regular, casual, and contractual employees who meet the required service qualifications.

To qualify, personnel must have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year, remain in active service as of May 15, and have received at least a satisfactory performance rating in their latest evaluation.
