Police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in Hermosa, Bataan, after a 15-hour pursuit that ended in Pampanga.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the suspect was captured during a follow-up operation in Barangay San Juan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga, on June 26.
The man was being pursued in connection with the shooting incident in Barangay Culis, Hermosa, Bataan, which left the victim dead.
Authorities said the operation was carried out under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
During the arrest, police recovered a US Carbine caliber .30 with a loaded magazine. They also located the white passenger van allegedly used in the crime.
The suspect and the recovered evidence were brought to the Hermosa Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
Police said a murder complaint is being prepared against the suspect.
“Criminals should know that no matter how far they run, the law will catch up with them. Our police officers remain steadfast in ensuring that every offender is held accountable and every victim receives the justice they deserve,” Nartatez said.
“Hindi makakatakas ang sinumang gumawa ng krimen. Titiyakin naming mapapanagot ang mga may sala,” he added.
The PNP said the arrest forms part of its Focused Agenda, a strategic framework aimed at making the police service more responsive, accountable, and professional.
It also said the operation reflects its continuing efforts to strengthen investigative work and operational response under its Enhanced Managing Police Operations priority.
The police organization said it remains committed to intensifying its campaign against criminality under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and its program for a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
