The Department of Energy (DOE) has endorsed the release of the 9th ASEAN Energy Outlook, a comprehensive strategic report aimed at guiding Southeast Asian nations in formulating and implementing energy policies.
The ASEAN Centre for Energy officially launched the document on October 8, 2026, during the 26th ASEAN Energy Business Forum in Pasay City, held concurrently with the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting.
The DOE stated that the regional outlook will act as a key baseline for policy planning, investment mobilization, and infrastructure deployment to meet escalating power demand across member states.
In alignment with regional goals, the Philippines is focusing its national energy strategy on scaling renewable energy capacity, diversifying fuel mix sources, fortifying power grid infrastructure, and enhancing energy efficiency standards.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin stressed the necessity of turning regional policy frameworks into operational strategies, private sector investments, and active infrastructure developments that yield clear outcomes.
The collaborative initiative seeks to reinforce energy supply resilience, maintain cost affordability for consumers, and foster long-term sustainable growth throughout the Philippines and the broader ASEAN region.
