The Armed Forces of the Philippines joined government agencies, uniformed services, civil society groups and members of the public on Sunday in the National Peace Walk 2026 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Led by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., the military participated in the event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea arbitral award.

The activity underscored the Philippines’ continuing commitment to peace, the rule of law and the protection of its sovereign rights and maritime entitlements.

“The Award affirmed our lawful maritime rights. It reminded the world that disputes are resolved not by force, but by law,” Brawner said.

He also emphasized the importance of justice, courage and national unity in achieving lasting peace.

“Peace built on justice is strength, peace protected by courage is lasting, and peace sustained by unity is the responsibility of every Filipino,” Brawner said.

Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. and National Security Adviser and National Security Council Director-General Eduardo S.L. Oban Jr. also attended the event, reflecting the government’s unified position in support of peace and the rule of law.

The AFP said it remains committed to supporting whole-of-government initiatives that promote national unity, deepen public awareness of the country’s legitimate maritime rights and uphold a peaceful, rules-based international order.
