Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. visited the 5th Infantry “Star” Division in Isabela on June 10, urging soldiers to remain committed to serving the Filipino people with loyalty, excellence, and dedication.
Brawner visited the division headquarters at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz in Upi, Gamu, Isabela, where he was welcomed by 5th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Gulliver Señires and deputy commander Brig. Gen. Romualdo Raymund Landingin.
The 5th Infantry Division is the Philippine Army unit responsible for sustaining peace and security efforts in Northern Luzon, including the campaign to maintain the region’s insurgency-free status.
The visit also served as Brawner’s first testimonial review ahead of his forthcoming retirement from military service.
In his remarks, Brawner credited the accomplishments of the division to teamwork and the collective efforts of its personnel.
“I am reminded once again that every success attributed to any command is never the work of one person alone. It is always teamwork,” Brawner said.
The AFP chief also reminded troops to remain loyal to the country, the Constitution, and the Philippine flag as they continue carrying out their mandate.
“Continue to shine—not for yourselves, but for the communities you protect, for the Army you strengthen, for the Armed Forces you represent, and for the country we all love,” he said.
Brawner’s visit highlighted the AFP leadership’s recognition of the Star Division’s role in maintaining peace, security, and stability in Northern Luzon.
