Relief efforts in Southern Mindanao continue to expand following the recent earthquake, with at least 10,000 hot meals set to be distributed to affected communities through a coordinated feeding initiative supported by private sector partners.
The initiative, which includes McDonald’s Philippines’ “Kindness Kitchen,” is being carried out in close coordination with local government units to ensure orderly and safe delivery of food assistance to displaced families and responders.
Within 24 hours after the disaster, around 500 hot meals were already served to affected residents in General Santos City, where authorities reported widespread structural damage. An additional 2,000 meals have been prepared for successive distribution, with more supplies being readied for other heavily impacted areas in the region.
Aside from affected families, the hot meals will also be provided to frontline workers, including emergency responders, health personnel, and volunteers engaged in ongoing relief and recovery operations.
Organizers said the effort aims to sustain food support while communities begin recovery in the aftermath of the disaster, with additional assistance expected as coordination with local authorities continues.
Donations to support the initiative may be coursed through the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which helps fund food production and logistics for displaced families and responders.
