Marcos Calls for Unity, Selflessness on Eid’l Adha

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday joined the Muslim community in observing Eid’l Adha, calling on Filipinos to embrace sacrifice, humility, and devotion in building a more compassionate nation.

In his message for the Feast of Sacrifice, Marcos said Eid’l Adha carries a lesson that extends beyond faith and religion, reminding people to rise above personal desires and find meaning in obedience, sincerity, and service to others.

The President urged the public to draw inspiration from the story of Prophet Ibrahim, whose unwavering faith and complete submission to Allah’s will showed trust in a purpose greater than oneself.

“Eid’l Adha carries a timeless message for people of all faiths and backgrounds: that sacrifice, when offered with sincerity and love, becomes a source of profound strength,” Marcos said.

He said the holiday reminds Filipinos that sacrifices made for what is just and noble are never lost, but are transformed into blessings that strengthen families, enrich communities, and uplift humanity.

“Through selflessness, we build bridges of understanding, heal divisions, and create a more just society,” the President said.

Marcos also called on Filipinos to carry the spirit of Eid’l Adha into their daily lives through acts of generosity and compassion.

“May this sacred observance inspire deeper reflection and renew our commitment to the values that bind us together as one people and one nation,” he said.

He added that such values should guide efforts to build a more inclusive Bagong Pilipinas.

Eid’l Adha, one of the two major Islamic holidays observed in the Philippines, falls on May 27 this year.
