Orphaned Student Graduates with PNP Support

A student who lost a sibling in police service has earned a college degree with the help of the Philippine National Police (PNP), through the 1st Albay Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).

The student graduated on May 14, 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree, completing college despite the challenges faced by the family following the death of a police officer sibling.

The graduate is the sibling of a late member of the 1st Albay PMFC who died in the line of duty on June 24, 2020. Though the officer passed away at a young age, his service and sacrifice continue to be remembered by his family and fellow police personnel.

As part of its continuing assistance to the families left behind by fallen police officers, the 1st Albay PMFC supported the student’s education until graduation. The initiative forms part of the PNP’s care program for the families of police personnel who died while serving the country.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the achievement of surviving family members is also a source of pride for the entire police organization.

“Ang tagumpay ng ating mga naiwang mahal sa buhay ay tagumpay din ng buong Pambansang Pulisya. Hindi natatapos sa paglilingkod sa lansangan ang ating tungkulin, patuloy ang ating pagdamay at pag-alalay sa kanilang mga pamilya,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said the student carried not only a personal dream on the way to graduation, but also the memory of a sibling who served the nation with dedication.

The police organization said the story reflects its commitment to service beyond law enforcement, extending care and support to the families of officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The PNP said the initiative is part of its vision for a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
