The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will comply with the Department of Justice (DOJ) directive ordering law enforcement agencies to implement the warrant of arrest against Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police force has taken note of the DOJ order directing both the PNP and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to effect the arrest warrant against the senator.
Nartatez said the PNP respects the justice system and recognizes the authority of competent government agencies in carrying out lawful orders.
As the country’s primary law enforcement agency, the PNP said it will act in accordance with existing laws, due process, and established operational procedures.
The police organization also assured the public that any action related to the directive will be carried out impartially, professionally, and strictly within the bounds of the law.
Nartatez added that the PNP will fully respect the constitutional rights of all parties concerned as it performs its mandate.
