Senate Incident Evidence Turned Over to DOJ

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has completed its fact-finding investigation into the alleged shooting incident at the Senate building and formally turned over its findings and evidence to the Department of Justice.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. presented the results of the investigation during a Malacañang press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, alongside Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla.

The investigation covered the May 13 incident at the Senate building and sought to establish a clearer timeline based on physical, documentary, and digital evidence.

Authorities presented CCTV footage and videos gathered from multiple sources, including media practitioners, individuals at the scene, bystanders, and those who were taking photos or livestreaming as the incident unfolded.

Investigators said the materials were reviewed, validated, and synchronized to reconstruct the sequence of events from different angles.

Nartatez said the PNP has already completed its role in the fact-finding stage and has transmitted all documentary and digital evidence to the DOJ for legal evaluation.

“I have already submitted the pieces of evidence, still photographs as well as videos, and it will be on the appreciation of our beloved Secretary of Justice and the committee to conclude on kung ano ang mangyari,” Nartatez said.

The PNP stressed that its findings were anchored on verified accounts, digital materials, and due process, adding that the next steps now depend on the DOJ’s assessment.

Police officials also appealed to the public to avoid speculation while the justice department reviews the evidence and determines possible legal action.

The PNP said it remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and public accountability as the legal process moves forward.
