The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned a motorcycle rider who was caught on video allegedly pushing another rider while driving, causing the victim to lose balance and fall on the road.
In a statement, the LTO said the viral video showed the rider forcibly pushing another motorcyclist while both were traveling, an act the agency described as irresponsible and dangerous.
The LTO said it immediately issued a show-cause order against the rider, directing him to explain why he should not be held liable for several violations, including reckless driving, failure to perform the duty of a driver in case of an accident, improper use of number plates, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The rider was ordered to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) at the LTO Central Office at 11 am on May 18, 2026.
The agency said the motorcycle involved in the incident was also placed under alarm status while the rider’s driver’s license was placed under a 90-day preventive suspension pending investigation.
The rider was also directed to immediately surrender his license to the LTO-IID.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said the agency would not tolerate any form of violence, intimidation, or reckless behavior on public roads.
“Walang puwang sa lansangan ang anumang uri ng karahasan, panggigipit, o iresponsableng pagmamaneho kahit sino pa ang sangkot. Hindi exempted ang sinuman sa batas,” Lacanilao said.
“Ang mandato natin ay protektahan ang publiko at tiyaking ligtas ang ating mga kalsada para sa lahat,” he added.
The LTO reminded motorists to remain responsible, calm, and disciplined while driving.
The agency said it would continue to strictly enforce traffic laws as part of its intensified campaign against reckless driving and other violations that endanger public safety.
