President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday paid tribute to mothers across the country, recognizing their sacrifices, unwavering love, and vital role in strengthening Filipino families and communities.
In a Mother’s Day message posted on social media, Marcos expressed gratitude to mothers for their daily devotion not only to their families but also to the nation.
“Kayo ang ilaw ng tahanan at haligi ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Sa inyong pag-aaruga, pagtitiis, at walang kapantay na pagmamahal, mas tumatatag ang ating tahanan, komunidad, at bayan,” the President said.
He added that no words could fully capture the sacrifices and unconditional love that mothers give every day.
“Ngayong Mother’s Day, taos-puso akong nagpupugay at nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng ina. Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal na araw-araw ninyong iniaalay para sa inyong pamilya at para sa ating bansa,” Marcos said.
The President’s post included a family photo featuring First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and Irene Marcos-Araneta.
In a separate message, Marcos also paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife, thanking her for keeping their family together through the years with patience and love.
The President said he had witnessed the First Lady’s dedication to their family not out of obligation, but out of genuine love as a mother.
“Our boys could not have asked for a more loving mother, and I could not have asked for a better partner to walk through life with,” Marcos said.
“Thank you for holding our family together with so much love and patience through every season of our lives. We love you, always,” he added.
The President and the First Lady were married on April 17, 1993, at the San Francesco Convent in Fiesole, Italy. The couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary last month.
They have three sons, including Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, popularly known as Sandro Marcos, along with Joseph Simon and William Vincent Marcos.
