The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) reported a series of operational gains in the first half of May, highlighting intensified efforts against cyber-related offenses nationwide.
From May 1 to 15, cybercrime operatives arrested 52 individuals through various law enforcement actions. The arrests included 23 suspects caught in entrapment operations, 28 wanted persons, and one individual rescued during a cybercrime-related operation.
During the same period, the PNP-ACG referred 89 cybercrime cases for filing, including 67 regular filings and 22 inquest proceedings, as authorities ramped up operations targeting online criminals.
The group also reported the conviction of 10 individuals involved in cyber-related offenses.
To support ongoing investigations, the PNP-ACG implemented 72 Warrants to Disclose Computer Data (WDCD), allowing investigators to gather digital evidence linked to various online crimes.
Authorities also carried out 587 cyber patrolling activities aimed at detecting illegal online activities, while forensic teams completed 18 digital forensic examinations.
In addition, police rescued 10 victims from different forms of cybercrime during the reporting period.
PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. earlier directed police units to strengthen operational capabilities in addressing crimes both in physical communities and digital platforms as part of the organization’s focused agenda on public safety.
Acting PNP-ACG director Wilson Asueta said cybercrime operatives remain committed to pursuing online offenders and improving cybersecurity enforcement efforts.
“Our Cybercops remain relentless in pursuing cybercriminals and strengthening our operational efforts to ensure a safer and more secure cyberspace for all,” Asueta said.
