17 Arrested, P25M Worth of LPG Acquired in Caloocan Raid

Seventeen individuals were arrested and around P25 million worth of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and equipment were seized after authorities dismantled an alleged illegal refilling operation in Caloocan City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

Operatives from the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Unit carried out the raid at a facility in Barangay 163, Sta. Quiteria, where unauthorized LPG handling and refilling activities were reportedly taking place.

The operation, conducted from early morning to mid-morning, led to the confiscation of LPG cylinders of various brands and sizes, along with refilling equipment, compressors, a transport truck, and other materials linked to the operation.

Police said several of the seized cylinders showed signs of tampering, indicating possible violations of Republic Act No. 11592, or the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry Regulation Act, which governs the safe handling, storage, and distribution of LPG.

All suspects are now in police custody and are facing charges in connection with the illegal activity.

PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. warned of the dangers posed by unauthorized LPG operations.

“LPG is highly sensitive, and improper handling can put lives and properties at risk. Hindi natin hahayaan ang ganitong gawain na magpatuloy,” he said.

The raid is part of the PNP’s ongoing campaign against illegal activities that pose risks to public safety, with authorities vowing to sustain similar operations.
