PNP-HPG Sustains Nationwide Drive, Arrests Four in Carnapping-Related Cases

The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) arrested four individuals in a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted on April 24, 2026, as authorities stepped up efforts against carnapping and other outstanding criminal warrants across the country.

The coordinated operations led to arrests in Leyte, Antipolo City, Laguna, Isabela, and Pangasinan, targeting suspects wanted for carnapping, assault, theft, and other offenses.

In Leyte, police arrested a 27-year-old unemployed man in Dagami after a Regional Trial Court issued a warrant for carnapping. Shortly after, in Antipolo City, a 28-year-old carpenter from Northern Samar was apprehended in a tracker operation involving multiple units, also facing a similar warrant issued years earlier. Both suspects are now under the custody of local police units pending court proceedings.

In Laguna, a 29-year-old man was arrested after being flagged for a traffic violation, where authorities later discovered he allegedly misrepresented himself as a police officer. He now faces charges for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, as well as usurpation of authority under the Revised Penal Code.

Meanwhile, in Isabela, joint operations by regional and local police units resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old helper wanted for carnapping under a standing court warrant. He is currently detained while awaiting turnover to the issuing court.

In Pangasinan, authorities served two warrants of arrest against a 54-year-old man from Pampanga listed as a municipal-level wanted person. The cases include direct assault with attempted murder and theft filed in courts in Pampanga and Makati City.

PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units, emphasizing that the operations reflect the police force’s continuing effort to ensure that individuals with pending cases are located and held accountable.

He said the PNP will sustain its intelligence-led operations and coordinated law enforcement efforts nationwide to strengthen public safety and prevent offenders from evading the law.

The operations are aligned with the security priorities of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and fall under the PNP’s Focused Agenda on enhanced police operations.

Authorities assured the public that similar operations will continue in different regions as part of a sustained campaign to improve law enforcement visibility, accountability, and community safety under the banner of a more responsive national police service.
