Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) governor Eli Remolona Jr. said he has not received a formal copy of the criminal complaint filed against him following legal action by lawyer Manases Reyes Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Carpio’s complaint also names Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) Executive Director Matthew David and certain members of the House Committee on Justice. It alleges possible violations of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the Bank Secrecy Law, and the Data Privacy Act.

Remolona said he could not comment in detail but defended the BSP and AMLC, stressing that both institutions continue to carry out their mandates in accordance with the law.

“We emphasize that the BSP and the Anti-Money Laundering Council continue to perform their mandates in accordance with law, guided by independence, professionalism, and due process,” he said.

The BSP chief said he would respond to the complaint once it is formally received and filed before the proper forum.

Details of the complaint and supporting allegations have yet to be publicly disclosed.
