Maricel Soriano, Maris Racal, and Jericho Rosales were among the biggest acting winners at the 42nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies, held Sunday, October 25, at Winford Resort and Casino Manila.

Soriano and Racal shared the Movie Actress of the Year award for their performances in Meet, Greet & Bye and Sunshine, respectively.

The recognition marked Soriano’s third victory in the category, with all three wins resulting in ties. For Racal, it was her first, recognizing her portrayal of a young gymnast facing an unexpected pregnancy in Sunshine.

Rosales, meanwhile, secured his third Movie Actor of the Year award for his performance in the historical drama Quezon.

I’mPerfect emerged as Movie of the Year after entering the competition with 13 nominations. The film also earned acting honors for Sylvia Sanchez as Movie Supporting Actress of the Year and Krystel Go as New Movie Actress of the Year.

Independent cinema also received recognition, with Sunshine, which garnered 12 nominations, winning Indie Movie of the Year. Its director, Antoinette Jadaone, was named Indie Movie Director of the Year.

The ceremony likewise honored Philippine cinema veterans, inducting Vilma Santos-Recto and National Artist Ricky Lee into the PMPC Hall of Fame for their achievements in acting and screenwriting.

Sharon Cuneta and Rez Cortez received lifetime achievement awards, while Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre were recognized as Takilya King and Takilya Queen for Call Me Mother.

The annual awards celebrated achievements across mainstream and independent filmmaking, recognizing established screen personalities, emerging performers, and the creative teams behind Filipino movies.
