Philippines eyes $110-billion annual semiconductor and electronics exports by 2030

The Marcos administration, through the Board of Investments (BOI), is pushing for the linking of different strategic industry hubs around the country under a Philippine Technology Corridor, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said on Sunday.

Recto, who also chairs the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry Advisory Council (SEIAC), said the corridor would link the advanced manufacturing industry in New Clark City; the integrated circuit design sector in Metro Manila; critical minerals in Mindanao; artificial intelligence infrastructure in Batangas; connectivity in Aurora, and prospective wafer fabrication in Bulacan.

“Underpinning this drive is the improvement of infrastructure, development of Filipino talent, implementation of predictable rules, and fair and fast resolution of investment bottlenecks,” his statement read.

This developed as the Marcos government vowed to build on the recent successes in the electronics and semiconductor industry which drove the merchandise exports to a historic high value of US$64 billion in the first eight months of 2026.

“Nakikita na ng mga investors na isa tayong investment choice hindi lang para sa manufacturing at assembly kundi pati na rin sa chip design, engineering, research, and innovation (Investors now see us as an investment destination—not just for manufacturing and assembly, but also for chip design, engineering, research, and innovation),” Recto said.

“At habang lumalaki ang demand sa AI, semiconductors, at data centers, mas lumalaki rin ang oportunidad para sa ating mga manggagawa, engineers, at Negosyo And as the demand for AI, semiconductors, and data centers grows, so too do the opportunities for our workers, engineers, and businesses),” Recto also said.

Recto said a sign of bullish industry confidence is the decision of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI) in August to raise its 2026 electronics export growth forecast to 10 percent this year or approximately US$ 54 billion – from an initial target of $53 billion- amid rising global demand for AI and data-center infrastructure.

He said that to sustain the momentum, SEIAC had launched this year the Philippine Semiconductor and Electronics Industry Roadmap which aims to reach US$ 110 billion in annual exports by 2030.

SEIPI also recognized the implementation of the CREATE MORE law which strengthened the country’s investment incentives framework, particularly provisions which aid registered export enterprises.
