The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has assured overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that the government has sufficient funds for repatriation and other forms of assistance until the end of 2026.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the P3-billion supplemental budget announced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in July is being used to finance repatriation operations, airfare, financial assistance, and temporary accommodation for affected workers.
Among those assisted were OFWs affected by flight cancellations on the Riyadh-Manila route, as well as passengers bound for Riyadh whose flights were diverted to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The assistance also covered workers stranded in Manila after their trips were canceled.
While the number of OFWs requiring assistance has declined following the flight disruptions, the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) continue to provide financial and accommodation support while their travel arrangements are being finalized.
