House Speaker Faustino G. Dy III reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives to prioritizing education, emphasizing that sustained investments in students, teachers, and campus security remain central to national development.
Speaking at the fifth leg of the LegisHear public consultation series held in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Dy stressed that establishing a solid educational foundation is vital to securing a brighter future for young Filipinos across every municipality and barangay.
“Nakita po natin na napakahalaga po ng edukasyon sa bawat lugar, sa bawat barangay, sa bawat bayan at lungsod,” Dy said. “Pare-parehas po ang ating paniwala na ang tanging edukasyon, matatag na pundasyon ng edukasyon, ay isang parte na para mabigyan natin ng magandang kinabukasan ang bawat Pilipinong kabataan sa ating bansa.”
The Speaker arrived in Victorias City after joining President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier in Isabela, where over 4,000 public school teachers and non-teaching personnel took their oaths following promotions under the Expanded Career Progression program or their initial entry into the Department of Education.
Marking the observance of National Teachers’ Month, Dy expressed gratitude to educators for their central role in shaping future generations, describing their contributions to society as indispensable.
Dy assured stakeholders that education funding is receiving close scrutiny as Congress deliberates on the proposed 2027 national budget, promising that lawmakers will ensure taxpayer money is allocated effectively and transparently.
He noted that strengthening the education system requires direct engagement beyond standard budget allocations. Through the LegisHear initiative, which has previously visited Isabela, Butuan, Dumaguete and South Cotabato, lawmakers gather ground-level feedback from parents, teachers, and local officials to inform legislative priorities in the 20th Congress.
Addressing growing concerns over student safety, Dy urged local communities and government leaders to work together to protect children both inside and outside school premises.
“Kailangan mag-ingat po tayo sapagkat tungkulin natin lahat ito na maging ligtas ang ating mga kabataan,” Dy emphasized, encouraging participants to submit recommendations that could translate into responsive policy and legislation.
