PNP Says No Verified Threat Against VP Sara, Family

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified that it has not monitored nor received any official report of verified threats against Vice President Sara Duterte or her family, following concerns raised by the official regarding the conduct of police personnel and her personal safety.

In an official statement, the PNP acknowledged the Vice President’s recent remarks expressing alarm over her safety. However, police authorities noted that no formal complaints or reports regarding security risks have been filed by her office to date.

“The PNP continues to monitor the situation. To date, however, the Vice President has not reported to the PNP any threat to her life or to the safety of her family, including the threats she said date back to 2023,” the PNP stated. “Likewise, the PNP has not monitored any verified threat against the Vice President or her family.”

The statement comes shortly after PNP personnel provided security assistance during Duterte’s appearance at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, where she posted bail in connection with a recently issued arrest warrant. Police reported that the Vice President was able to safely arrive at and depart from the court premises without incident.

Addressing the allegations surrounding police conduct, the PNP emphasized that its leadership remains open to receiving any formal documentation, statements or reports concerning the alleged threats so that they may be thoroughly assessed and verified.

“My office, in particular, remains open to receiving such information so that we can properly check, assess and verify it,” the statement read.

The police leadership reiterated its commitment to maintaining professional standards across its ranks, noting that all officers are required to strictly adhere to existing laws and operating procedures.

“In the performance of their duties, police personnel are expected to faithfully comply with the law, observe existing policies and procedures and carry out their responsibilities professionally and lawfully,” the PNP added.

While maintaining that no active threats have been validated, the PNP affirmed its respect for the right of individuals to voice concerns over their safety, promising to share the findings once its internal verification process concludes.
