Palace Respects Court Order for VP Sara Duterte’s Arrest

Malacañang on Friday said it respects the decision of a Quezon City court to issue a warrant of arrest against Vice President Sara Duterte over grave threats charges stemming from her alleged assassination remarks against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“Ginagalang ng Palasyo ang anumang desisyon o kautusan ng korte (The Palace respects whatever the decision or order of the court is),” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a message to the media.

The Department of Justice said Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 issued the warrant in connection with three counts of grave threats filed against Duterte.

The charges stemmed from an online briefing in which Duterte said she had spoken to an assassin and instructed the person to kill Marcos, the First Lady and Romualdez should something happen to her.

Duterte later said her remarks had been taken out of context.
