A 3-year-old boy was found dead Sunday morning, several hours after raging floodwaters swept him away from his family’s home in Villa Miranda, Barangay Old Cabalan, Forestry, Olongapo City.
The child’s body was recovered along the shoreline of the Boardwalk inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, several kilometers from where he was reported missing.
Initial report showed that the fence surrounding the family’s home reportedly collapsed under the force of the current from a nearby river, allowing floodwaters to rush into the area on Saturday.
The boy was then quickly carried away by the strong current toward the river, according to his family.
His relatives were unable to rescue him as the floodwaters continued to surge.
Authorities later recovered the child’s body on Sunday morning along the Subic Bay shoreline.
