The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), together with TUPAD workers, has intensified flood mitigation operations across Metro Manila to keep drainage systems clear and reduce flooding risks during the rainy season.
The MMDA Flood Control Team carried out declogging operations along R10 in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North, Navotas City, where personnel cleaned 40 linear meters of drainage lines and removed about 0.85 cubic meter of mud and garbage.
A separate cleanup was conducted at the catch basins along España Boulevard corner A.H. Lacson Avenue in Sampaloc, Manila.
Workers cleared 30 linear meters of drainage and collected around 0.50 cubic meter of accumulated silt and waste from the area.
The agency also deployed dump trucks to haul spoils from Malacañang Park PSG, J.P. Laurel Street, and España Boulevard for the proper disposal of mud, debris, and garbage gathered during the operations.
The MMDA said regular maintenance and cleaning activities would continue as part of its flood prevention program.
It also urged the public to observe proper waste disposal, stressing that keeping canals, esteros, and drainage systems free of garbage is essential in preventing floods.
