Six Charged With Murder Over Fatal Timog Avenue Ambush

Police have filed two counts of murder against six individuals over the April 28 ambush that killed a businessman known as alias “Perry Mariano” and his driver in Quezon City.

The complaints, which also include a violation of Republic Act No. 11235 or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act, were filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on July 13 following an investigation by the Quezon City Police District.

The victims were inside a vehicle along Timog Avenue near EDSA when two motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire. Both later died while receiving medical treatment.

Investigators reviewed closed-circuit television footage, interviewed witnesses, conducted digital forensic examinations and carried out intelligence validation and forensic analysis. The PNP said the evidence gathered led to the identification of the six respondents and supported the filing of charges.

Police are continuing follow-up operations in coordination with other agencies while observing due process.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said investigators prioritized building a strong evidentiary case before filing the complaints.

“Ang mahalaga ay matibay ang ebidensyang naipon bago tayo magsampa ng kaso. Hindi tayo nagmamadali, ngunit sinisiguro nating maayos ang proseso at may pananagutan ang sinumang mapatutunayang lumabag sa batas,” Nartatez said.

He added that the PNP would continue coordinating with prosecutors to ensure the case remains supported throughout the judicial process.

“Our investigators remain focused on building strong cases founded on facts and evidence. We will continue pursuing those responsible while fully respecting due process and the rule of law,” he said.

The PNP said the filing forms part of its evidence-based law enforcement campaign under the Enhanced Managing Police Operations pillar of its Focused Agenda.
