Five Alleged ‘Gapos Gang’ Members Nabbed After Marikina Home Robbery

Five suspected members of the “Gapos Gang” were arrested following a robbery at a residence in Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City, early Monday morning, July 13, 2026, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

The Eastern Police District, through the Marikina City Police Station, immediately responded to the incident and took the five suspects into custody. Police also recovered suspected stolen properties, firearms, ammunition and other items allegedly used in the crime.

Initial investigation showed that the suspects allegedly entered the residence while posing as police personnel and presented documents they claimed were connected to a law enforcement operation.

The occupants were reportedly restrained as the suspects took valuables from the house.

Police were alerted after one of the occupants managed to send a distress message seeking assistance. Responding personnel immediately proceeded to the area, rescued the victims and arrested the suspects within the vicinity.

Recovered items included electronic devices, a wristwatch, a 9-mm pistol with magazines and ammunition, improvised firearms, mobile phones, masks, restraints and copies of documents allegedly used to support the suspects’ impersonation of authorities.

The suspects were identified only by their aliases as “Ahorn,” “Don-Don,” “Oryong,” “Ric” and “Beshir.”

They remain under police custody and are undergoing legal procedures, while authorities continue to conduct follow-up operations against other individuals who may have been involved.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the responding personnel and stressed the importance of police readiness, coordination and public cooperation in addressing threats to peace and security.

“Ang mabilis na aksyon ng ating mga pulis, kasama ang alerto at pakikipagtulungan ng ating mga kababayan, ang naging susi para marespondehan agad ang insidente at maiwasan ang mas malaking pinsala. This shows that when the police and the community work together, we can respond effectively to any challenge,” Nartatez said.

The PNP chief also directed police units to remain vigilant and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, particularly in situations requiring immediate intervention.
