The Manila Department of Social Welfare distributed hot meals to about 1,000 residents of Baseco and Isla Puting Bato on July 11 amid cold and rainy weather brought by the southwest monsoon.
Under its Hot Meals on Wheels program, the department served arroz caldo, bread and bottled water to children and adults in Barangay 649 in Baseco and Barangay 20 in Isla Puting Bato.
The city government said the distribution was intended to provide immediate assistance to vulnerable families affected by the inclement weather.
The department added that it remains on standby to deliver emergency aid and other social services as the rainy season continues.
