Pasay Police Arrest Rape-Slay Suspect After Nearly Nine Years in Hiding

Police arrested a 43-year-old most-wanted person and alleged member of the Commando Gang in Pasay City, nearly nine years after he allegedly went into hiding to evade prosecution for rape with homicide.

The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Pasay City Police Station along Apelo Cruz Extension in Barangay 174 following sustained intelligence gathering and manhunt operations led by personnel of Sub-Station 6.

Police served a warrant of arrest for rape with homicide issued by the Regional Trial Court of Iloilo City on Dec. 13, 2017.

The court did not recommend bail due to the gravity of the offense.

Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Pasay City Police Station for documentation before his commitment to the court of origin for the proper disposition of the case.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation demonstrated the police organization’s determination to hold fugitives accountable regardless of how long they evade arrest.

“Justice does not expire. The PNP will relentlessly pursue fugitives and ensure that those accused of heinous crimes are brought before the courts to answer for their actions,” Nartatez said.

“Hindi hadlang ang tagal ng pagtatago para makaiwas sa batas. Hahanapin at aarestuhin namin ang bawat pugante hanggang sa maiharap sila sa hukuman,” he added.

The PNP said the arrest was carried out under its Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which sustains intelligence and manhunt activities against wanted individuals.

The police organization also reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying its campaign against fugitives and other criminal suspects under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
