Manila Offers Free Doxycycline to Residents Exposed to Floodwaters

  • July 11, 2026

The Manila Health Department has advised residents who waded through or came into contact with floodwaters to immediately seek consultation at the nearest health center to prevent leptospirosis.

The department is distributing free Doxycycline to qualified individuals exposed to floodwaters as a preventive measure against the bacterial disease.

Health authorities warned that leptospirosis may cause fever, body aches, vomiting, jaundice, and other serious complications if not treated promptly.

They stressed that early consultation and proper treatment are crucial, particularly for residents recently exposed to contaminated floodwater.

To strengthen disease prevention efforts following the recent flooding, health centers across Manila remained open until noon on Saturday, July 11, 2026, to provide medical consultations and distribute free Doxycycline to eligible residents.
