Six people were killed and three others remained missing after a rain-induced landslide buried two houses in Sitio Blesong Fundao, Barangay Poblacion on Friday.
A report submitted to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the landslide struck the mountainside homes of the Maladian and Yaton families.
The Malapatan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office initially reported that 10 people were trapped beneath the debris.
Search and retrieval teams recovered six bodies, while operations continued for the three missing residents.
A 31-year-old man was pulled alive from the rubble Friday morning and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities attributed the landslide to heavy rains that had battered the area since early Friday.
Officials said the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the area on June 8 may also have weakened the ground, with days of continuous rainfall further increasing the risk of collapse.
Flooding was also reported Thursday evening in Barangays Sapu Padidu, Sapu Masla, and Libi.
At least 115 families were evacuated and temporarily sheltered in three evacuation centers, according to the MDRRMO.
