The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has concluded the second day of its Special Immersion Program, bringing together frontline personnel from Migrant Workers Offices and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to strengthen services for overseas Filipino workers.

The second day of the program was held on July 8 at the DMW Central Office.

According to the DMW, the initiative forms part of its continuing efforts to enhance the capacity of frontline responders and ensure that services for OFWs are more efficient, coordinated, compassionate, and people-centered throughout the migration cycle.

Participants underwent training on key global migration and labor issues, including the International Organization for Migration’s Global Compact for Migration, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, fair and ethical recruitment, and the One Country Team Approach.

The program also covered cultural diplomacy, consular concerns, the use of the Aksyon Fund, migration health, and reintegration programs.

The sessions were led by local and international experts, including representatives from the International Organization for Migration, retired Ambassador Grace Relucio-Princesa, Assistant Secretary Maria Regina Angela Galias, and Dr. Luigi Angelo Bustamante of the Department of Health.

The DMW said the program is intended to help frontline personnel provide more responsive and effective assistance to OFWs and their families.
