Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso said sound financial management and strict fiscal discipline are crucial to sustaining the city’s recovery and improving the delivery of public services.
Domagoso made the statement during a meeting with newly elected officials of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he discussed the city government’s efforts to restore financial stability.
He was joined by City Treasurer Atty. Paul Vega and City Accountant Jonathan Galorio.
The mayor said the Manila City government has adopted prudent spending measures, tighter fiscal controls, and stronger accountability mechanisms in the use of public funds.
Domagoso said these steps are necessary as the city continues to manage financial obligations inherited from the previous administration while ensuring that government operations and services remain funded.
Among the measures being implemented is the daily monitoring of Manila’s cash position.
Domagoso said the practice allows city officials to track available funds more closely, guide spending decisions, and ensure that public resources are used responsibly.
He said fiscal discipline will remain central to Manila’s recovery efforts as the local government works to strengthen public trust and maintain stable city finances.
