CIDG Seizes ₱1.54M in Alleged Substandard Solar Products in Bulacan

The Philippine National Police has seized an estimated ₱1.54 million worth of allegedly substandard solar lights and panels in Bulacan as part of intensified operations to protect consumers from unsafe products.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Eastern Metro Manila District Field Unit, in coordination with local police units, at a warehouse in Barangay Matungao, Bulakan, Bulacan, from June 30 until the early hours of July 1.

Authorities apprehended a 35-year-old Chinese national and businessman identified only as alias “Han.”

Police said the operation was carried out in connection with an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

The case stemmed from the discovery of solar lights and panels that were allegedly not compliant with prescribed safety and quality standards.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation reflects the police organization’s commitment to safeguarding communities and supporting government efforts to protect consumers from potentially unsafe products.

“Patuloy ang ating pagtutok sa mga operasyon na may direktang epekto sa kaligtasan at kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan. Ang bawat aksyon ng PNP ay isinasagawa nang naaayon sa batas at may respeto sa karapatan ng lahat ng sangkot,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said the operation is aligned with its Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which promotes responsive, coordinated, and lawful enforcement initiatives.

It also supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen public safety and uphold the welfare of Filipino consumers.

The PNP said it remains committed to accountable and service-oriented policing under its banner of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” while continuing to work with partner agencies to promote safer communities.
