Quezon City has recorded 146 COVID-19 cases as of July 1, with children aged 14 and below accounting for the largest share of infections, the city government said Sunday.
Citing data from the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD), the local government reported that COVID-19 cases in the city increased by 265.22 percent over the past three weeks.
From 23 confirmed cases logged between May 21 and June 10, infections rose to 84 between June 11 and July 1.
According to QCESD data, children aged 14 years and below accounted for nearly 30 percent of reported cases.
Adults aged 25 to 29 and senior citizens aged 60 and above followed, with each age group comprising around 16 percent of total infections.
The city also recorded more infections among females than males, with 66 cases among women and 41 among men. Healthcare workers accounted for 3.74 percent of those infected.
From May 21 to July 1, District 4 recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Quezon City, accounting for 32.71 percent of the total. District 1 followed with 22.43 percent.
At the barangay level, Barangay Doña Imelda had the highest number of recorded cases with 11.
Barangays Culiat, Salvacion, Santa Teresita, Santo Cristo, Sauyo, Socorro, and Tandang Sora each recorded four cases.
The city government said the QCESD will continue to monitor COVID-19 trends and urged residents experiencing respiratory symptoms, as well as those with weakened immune systems, to immediately seek medical consultation at the nearest health center.
It also reminded the public that early medical evaluation is important to prevent COVID-19 from worsening into severe illness and causing serious complications.
