South Korean Fugitive Wanted for Fraud Nabbed in Pampanga

A South Korean fugitive wanted in his home country for alleged fraud was arrested in a joint law enforcement operation in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Regional Field Unit, together with the Bureau of Immigration–Fugitive Search Unit, the Korean National Police Agency, and the Department of Justice–Office of Cybercrime, in coordination with Police Regional Office 3.

Authorities implemented the arrest through a Bureau of Immigration mission order after the suspect, identified only by the alias “Park,” was found to be the subject of an Interpol Red Notice and an arrest warrant issued by a court in South Korea for alleged fraud.

The 44-year-old Korean national was also under a watchlist order and was determined to be an overstaying foreign national.

According to reports, the suspect is allegedly linked to an organized fraud scheme that deceived several victims through fraudulent purchase transactions, resulting in substantial financial losses. The case remains under the jurisdiction of South Korean authorities.

The Philippine National Police said the operation reflects stronger cooperation with local and international law enforcement partners, particularly in efforts against fugitives and transnational crimes under the PNP Focused Agenda and Enhanced Managing Police Operations.

The agency said the arrest also reinforces the commitment of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to stronger international law enforcement collaboration and the rule of law.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating teams for the coordinated and professional conduct of the operation.
