DTI Tells Consumers: Check PS, ICC Marks Before Buying Electrical Products

  • July 2, 2026

The Department of Trade and Industry has urged consumers to check for safety certification marks before buying electrical products, warning that substandard and uncertified items may pose fire and accident risks.

The DTI said consumers should purchase only electrical products bearing the Philippine Standard Mark or the Import Commodity Clearance Sticker.

According to the agency, the PS Mark and ICC Sticker indicate that a product has passed national safety and quality requirements under Philippine National Standards.

The DTI said uncertified electrical products may be made of poor-quality materials or may fail to meet required safety standards, putting consumers and households at risk.

The agency said it continues to enforce product standards to prevent the sale of substandard electrical goods in the market.

It also reminded the public to inspect product labels and markings carefully before purchase and to prioritize certified products over cheaper but unsafe alternatives.
