Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has proposed a new policy that could see students expelled from public schools if caught carrying weapons, engaging in riots, or participating in bullying incidents.
Under the proposed ordinance, expelled students would be barred from enrolling in any other public school in the city. The measure is part of Manila’s broader effort to enhance campus security, promote discipline, and ensure safer learning environments for all students.
“The proposed ordinance is aimed at protecting our learners and maintaining order in schools. Those who endanger the safety of their peers and the school community must face strict consequences,” Domagoso said.
The Manila School and Community Safety Task Force is scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss the proposed measures, including the possible expulsion policy, and to help finalize the city’s strengthened school safety framework.
