The Philippine National Police swiftly apprehended three suspects in connection with the Pantukan shooting, less than 24 hours after the incident, underscoring the force’s commitment to intelligence-driven, coordinated operations.
The arrests took place on June 26 following intensified hot pursuit and investigative efforts. A 35-year-old man, identified by the victim through the police rogue’s gallery, is believed to be the gunman. Two companions—a 34-year-old dismissed PNP member and a 25-year-old female—were also identified as occupants of the vehicle used in the crime.
Authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, magazines, and the alleged getaway vehicle. One suspect remains at large, with police continuing operations to secure his capture and gather evidence for filing appropriate charges.
Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., praised the operating units for their swift and coordinated response. “Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin napapanagot ang lahat ng sangkot sa krimeng ito. Ang mabilis na aksyon ng ating mga pulis ay patunay na kapag nagtutulungan ang ating mga operating units at investigators, mas mabilis nating naihahatid ang hustisya,” PGEN Nartatez said.
The operation reflects the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly its priority on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes intelligence gathering, coordinated field operations, and investigative excellence. The arrests also align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure a safer environment for all Filipinos through effective law enforcement and adherence to the rule of law.
The PNP assured the public that the investigation continues in accordance with legal processes and full respect for due process, reinforcing its commitment to “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
