House Aid Desk Delivers P171.5M in Assistance to Over 3,500 Filipinos in First 50 Days

The House of Representatives’ Suporta sa Bayan Desk (SBD) has released over P171.5 million in assistance to thousands of Filipinos within its first 50 days of operation, underscoring what lawmakers described as faster and more coordinated delivery of government aid.

From March 18 to June 22, 2026, the SBD processed 3,738 requests, of which 3,592—about 96 percent—were approved. The requests came from 3,103 walk-in clients and 635 endorsements from House members.

Of the total approved assistance amounting to P175.8 million, P71.5 million has already been disbursed to beneficiaries. The desk served an average of 72 clients daily during the reporting period.

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III said the figures reflect more than just operational efficiency, but tangible relief for struggling families.

He said beneficiaries included patients needing support for medicines, dialysis, surgeries, and other medical expenses, stressing that government assistance should be accessible without unnecessary delay.

“When we established the Suporta sa Bayan Desk, we said this House would be a House of the People—‘Alagang Kongreso.’ In 50 days, P171 million in real help was delivered to many of our kababayan who are in need,” Dy said.

Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos said the 96 percent approval rate demonstrates Congress’ growing role as a frontline channel for social assistance.

He said the initiative ensures that individuals seeking help are not turned away empty-handed, describing the program as a more responsive model of public service.

The SBD, launched on March 17 and opened the following day, functions as a centralized facilitation hub that assists applicants in completing documentary requirements before endorsements to partner-agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH).

Of the total approved cases, 2,376 were processed through the DOH, while 1,216 were coursed through the DSWD.

Assistance provided covered a wide range of needs, including hospitalization expenses, medicines, laboratory tests, chemotherapy, dialysis, surgical procedures, medical devices, therapy, and funeral support.

The SBD recorded steady monthly activity, serving 507 clients in March, 1,138 in April, 1,008 in May, and 939 in the first 22 days of June.

House officials said the desk does not replace existing agency programs but streamlines access by helping beneficiaries complete requirements and coordinate faster processing with partner institutions.

The SBD operates on a first-come, first-served basis from Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 4 pm, or until all applicants in line are accommodated.

Lawmakers said the House intends to sustain and expand the program as part of efforts to improve the delivery of public assistance and reduce delays in accessing government support.
