Justin of SB19 Built a World Inside One Song, and It Starts With a Tree

‘Dahon,’ beyond a P-pop single, is the foundation of an expanding creative mythology.

Justin, SB19’s creative director and solo act who performs under the name justin, continues to build a solo identity that extends beyond music. With “dahon,” released via Sony Music Entertainment, he delivers his most cohesive statement yet: a song, a visual universe, original characters, and a meditation on commitment anchored on the imagery of a tree.

At its core, “dahon” reframes love not as permanence, but as rooted continuity. A tree, in Justin’s concept, does not resist change; it endures through it. Leaves fall, new ones grow, yet the structure remains.

“Commitment is not about everything staying the same,” justin said. “It is about choosing to remain grounded and steadfast through life’s ups and downs.”

Written by singer-songwriter Maki, the track leans into metaphor with intention rather than decoration. The tree functions as structure, not symbolism alone.

The music video introduces three original characters, Treesha, JahJah, and Brodie, positioned as narrative anchors within Justin’s growing creative universe. They are designed not as visual extras but as extensions of the storytelling framework.

Justin said the characters were inspired by his interest in character-driven franchises such as Pokémon, aiming to create recognizable figures that audiences can emotionally connect with beyond the song itself.

Plans are underway to expand the concept into merchandise, comics, and visual storybooks, positioning “dahon” as an entry point into a larger narrative world rather than a standalone release.

Part of Justin’s broader multidisciplinary approach, “dahon” merges music and visual art into a unified creative system. As SB19’s creative director, he has long shaped the group’s visual identity, but his solo work pushes that language into a more personal and experimental space.

“I hope people will see the beauty and inspiration that can come from combining music and visual art into one experience,” he said.

In “dahon,” that vision is fully realized. A song about emotional endurance becomes a structured world designed for expansion.

The leaf falls. Another grows. Justin builds the tree.
