Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon has ordered an urgent review of security measures in all city schools following the deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that left three people dead and seven others injured.
Biazon described the incident as “shocking and alarming,” noting it marks one of the most serious cases of school violence reported in the country.
While the attack occurred outside Muntinlupa, he said potential security threats in schools must be treated as a national concern and not taken lightly.
“This shooting will change the way we handle security and prepare for any eventuality in our schools,” Biazon said.
He said city officials, school administrators, and security personnel will be convened to assess vulnerabilities, strengthen existing safeguards, and improve emergency preparedness protocols.
The June 22 incident involved two students identified by police through the aliases “Rod” and “Nash.” Authorities recovered a .38-caliber revolver and a 9mm Glock pistol believed to have been used in the attack.
Biazon assured parents that the city remains committed to ensuring the safety of students and school personnel.
“We will do our best to ensure the safety and security of our schools and learners,” he said, while extending condolences to the families of the victims.
